Located
in Southwest Mississippi on the edge of the Tunica Hills,
Harriswood Plantation offers a truly unique deer
hunting experience. Whether a novice, or a seasoned deer
hunter, the quality and quantity of deer
and antelope will surely impress
any outdoorsman.
Specializing
in couples and families, Harriswood
provides the elements for a perfect hunt. Even if the spouse
is not a hunter, theres not a soul that doesnt
stir at the sight of a mature whitetail stepping out of the
woods.
From
the moment you arrive at the original
plantation farm house (circa 1890), you will know you
are in for a memorable trip. Deer
hunting here is from comfortable two-man stands with enough
room to get up and move around. The terrain is gentle rolling
hills of dense hardwood forest.
In
1991, Dr. James Kroll was retained
to advise on development of 650 prime acres, of the 6,000
total acres that make up the famous Woodstock Plantation.
Woodstock, founded in 1980, was the forerunner of big
buck
game management in Mississippi. After nine years of intense
game management, the result of Dr.
Krolls business plan has come together to
make the 2003-04 season the seventh full year of commercial deer
hunting. Last year, we had 90% success rate and
we guarantee this year will be even more spectacular.
With
a "no shoot, no pay"
program, our deer hunters are guaranteed to harvest only the
type animal they feel worthy of the classification of trophy;
and trophy animals are abundant in all species. With the buck-to-doe
ratio estimated at one to one, excellent genetics, age, and
nutrition, the combination is complete for some of the finest
and most abundant white-tailed bucks
in the region.
With
the year-round nutrition program, the whitetail
deer and exotics flourish in the mild Mississippi climate.
Numerous Black Buck Antelope,
extremely dark with 3 ½ full twist, and 19+ inch horns,
are plentiful.
The
genetic pool of the Axis Deer follows
to an eight-point sire making these animals some of the best
anywhere.
The
Red Stag with a blood line directly
to Scotland, are some of the Finest in the United States.
Accommodations and food in the totally restored farm
house will rival the bed and breakfast industry of Natchez;
complete with period furnishing and privacy. This is the perfect
place to bring the "significant other" to join in
the hunting experience in charm and luxury. The food, prepared
by Chris Lachausse of Baton Rouge, is renowned in the area
as some of the best.
Fishing
is available for midday pastime. Lake Nicole, featured on
ESPNs Jimmy Houstons Great Outdoors, is stocked
with Florida Large-Mouth Bass. The pond record of 8 lb. 2
oz. will surely fall this season.
And
dont forget the kids. Dozens
of youngsters have harvested their first deer while hunting
at Harriswood. Just such a hunt was featured on In Pursuit,
the nationally televised hunting program with Scott Liles.
Scott brought his nephew on his first whitetail
hunt. Not only was he able to show him scrapes, rubs, and
other signs, but left with a nice 10-point. Please view our
